Corina Marti: Clavisimbalum, Recorders (CH), Doron Schleifer: Voice (CH)
The crystalline sounds of the clavisimbalum—the piano’s medieval ancestor—the velvety tones of the countertenor voice, and the fanciful, danceable recorder in the hands of a master of the instrument: this unique combination of colours opens the 2024 Galway Early Music Festival. Medieval music virtuosi Corina Marti and Doron Schleifer present an evening of medieval melody that takes its title from the bright morning star, and invites listeners on a journey through the Eastern fringes of Europe in the late Middle Ages, setting the stage for the festival’s exploration of the Edges of Empires.
